Guest Cottages

There are two self-catering cottages on Rockhaven Farm that are available for guests. These are operated by the farm and not by Ratel Farming. Both cottages have beautiful views across the horse paddock to the mountains of the Cederberg and Skuweberge. The cottages are private and simply, but tastefully furnished. WE NOW ALSO HIRE OUT THE MAIN HOUSE, on special conditions, which is perfect for a big group, sleeping up to 16 people in one beautiful home.  For more information and to book, please visit Rockhaven Guest Farm

Rattel Farm Dam

The farm has a beautiful dam for swimming: the dam is a minute's walk from the cottages and there is a grassed area with a gazebo where you can relax.

There are wonderful walks on the farm and in the area; the pristine Ratel River is a short walk away. Mountain biking is popular in the area. There are many different sites of rockpaintings on and near the farm, including the famous three-masted galleon.

The Cape Nature Wilderness area is close by as well: this is famous for its floral beauty and places such as De Hel and De Tronk. Permits to enter the reserve must be obtained from Cape Nature in Porterville in advance.

Ratel Farm River

You are welcome to explore the different areas of the farm where you will find the essential oil plants being cultivated.

We sell all our produce from the farm. Our managers, Jaap and Stofelina, live on the farm and will be on hand to help you with anything you might need. Stofelina makes delicious farm bread and rusks, but she needs to be contacted before you arrive to let her know if you want

Dogs are welcome: please be advised however that Rockhaven is a working farm and there are both wild animals and livestock on the farm. If your dog has difficulty controlling itself around other animals, Rockhaven may not be the place for them !

Please be aware that Rockhaven is a working farm and that it is situated in a remote area. We cannot take any responsibility for injuries sustained while on the farm and care should be taken in regard to animals (wild and domestic) and the terrain.
